Rita Mullin

Rita Mullin is general manager of Science Channel, heading the business and creative direction of the network. Her goal for the network is to capitalize on people’s curiosity for the unknown with thought-provoking programming, bold talent and out-of-this-world entertainment.

Mullin has a proven track record of success in television, building audiences across various networks and multiple genres. Prior to joining Science Channel in May 2014, Mullin was the executive vice president of programming and development for the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), overseeing program development and current programming for the network.

During her tenure at OWN Mullin was instrumental to the success of such popular series as WELCOME TO SWEETIE PIE’S, DEION’S FAMILY PLAYBOOK, OUR AMERICA WITH LISA LING and LIFE WITH LA TOYA among many others.

An 18-year veteran of Discovery Communications, Mullin previously served as senior vice president, content strategy for Discovery Fit & Health, and in roles at TLC and Discovery Health Channel, where she created several successful series for the networks, including JON AND KATE PLUS 8 and LONG ISLAND MEDIUM. Her experience includes managing programming, production, development, marketing and communications during her career at Discovery.

Among her industry affiliations, Mullin serves on the board of directors of CINE and is a member of the Documentary Peer Group Executive Committee of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
