Max Micallef

VP, Head of West Coast Development

History

Max Micallef is Vice President, Head of West Coast Development for The HISTORY Channel. In this role, Micallef spearheads the development and production of some of HISTORY’s nonfiction programming. He joined the network in December 2018, and is based in Los Angeles.

Among Micallef’s credits are Great Escapes with Morgan Freeman, which resulted in Mr. Freeman taking on a bigger role as a brand ambassador for the network. His other HISTORY credits include History’s Greatest Heists with Pierce Brosnan, which has developed into a successful franchise including History’s Greatest Warriors and History’s Greatest Escapes, Kings of Pain and Assembly Required, which reunited Tim Allen and Richard Karn in a new build competition series.

Micallef joined HISTORY from Discovery Channel where he worked alongside international and domestic producers to develop primetime series for the network and helped set the strategy for new projects. During his time with Discovery Channel, Micallef was an instrumental part of the team that developed or produced series including Finding Escobar’s Millions, Killing Fields, Amish Mafia, and Moonshiners. Prior to joining Discovery Channel, Micallef was a Production Assistant for Discovery Studios in Silver Spring, MD. While at Discovery Studios, he was responsible for pitching and developing projects for multiple networks.

Micallef holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Syracuse University where he majored in Broadcast Journalism and History with a minor in Political Science.
